I recently attended a hands-on demonstration featuring the new Atelier Free Flow paint from Chroma. WOW! This diverse product has a multitude of applications including being used like watercolour, i.e. graduated washes, bleeding, overlaying and glazing. It can also be used as an extremely durable gouache, i.e. dries to a velvet like finish but very resistant to scratching and flaking. When Heavy Gloss Gel (formerly Impasto Gel) is added to this paint it becomes buttery, perfect for impasto techniques without loss of colour intensity. Dries quickly allowing you to move onto subsequent layering. A small amount of Free Flow goes a very long way and is suitable for drawing when used as an ink-like medium. I had a terrific time exploring all the techniques and I am excited by the seemingly endless possibilities for the use of these brilliantly coloured paints. I would be very interested in anyone else's experience with Free Flow and how others are utilising it :P .
